Lots of travelers want to go to Macau from Hong Kong. This blog post shares some tips of touring Macau with you.

Days to avoid

If you don’t want to enjoy the Macau Grand Prix in the third week of November, you may think twice before going to Macau in that period.

The Macau Grand Prix uses the street circuit.

The traffic control will cause serious traffic congestion in the city center.

You should also avoid going to Macau during The Labour Day Holiday in May, Chinese National Day in October and Chinese New Year.

Chinese guests will make Macau to be overcrowded.

Transportation from Hong Kong

Most people take the Turbojet to go to Macau.

You can take Turbojet at Hong Kong Island’s Shun Tak Center and Kowloon’s China Hong Kong Ferry Terminal.

Turbojet even offers the ferry service between Hong Kong Airport and Macau.

Turbojet runs frequenter than the Cotai Water Jet and brings you to the Outer Ferry Terminal, which is in Macau’s downtown.

Of course you can take the helicopter to Macau by paying more.

In about 2018, you can use the Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge to go to Macau by car.

The bridge will make the Hong Kong and Macau full day private car tour, which covers the twin cities in one day, a possible option!

Identity document

As you (travelers from the Western countries) will ‘leave’ Hong Kong and go to another Special Administrative Region of China, Macau, please bring your PASSPORTS with the ARRIVAL CARDS.

BUT you are NO NEED to apply the visa in advance.

Currency

You can use Hong Kong Dollar in Macau.

If you don’t stay in Macau for long, you may just get some Macau Pataca as the souvenir.

Please note, you cannot use Macau Pataca in Hong Kong.

Things to do

The Oriental Monte Carlo has lots of casinos of course.

Apart from gambling, you can tour the Macau Heritage Center.

You can have a happy family day, enjoy a spa and enjoy good food in the resorts.

You can try the really traditional delicacies in the ‘OLD’ restaurants with long history for the locals .

The ‘NEW’ restaurants for gamblers from different part of China charge you the extreme high price but the food quality is below average.
